Yummy Turkish Recipes to Discover in Cyprus
Do you want to make delicious and authentic Turkish recipes that are eaten in Cyprus yourself at home? Then worry no more, we are here to help! As we mentioned in our Greek Food Recipes section, the majority of dishes on the island are eaten by both the Greek and Turkish Cypriots. There is the odd exception to this, and of course different families and different regions of Cyprus sometimes add their own twist. In the Greek food section, we tried to give you recipes that are known internationally as Greek dishes, and are frequently eaten in Cyprus. In this section, we want to try and offer you recipes that are usually associated internationally with mainland Turkey, and have travelled over the sea to North Cyprus. Some of the recipes from Turkey have also made their way to the south of the island over time. Despite the influences from mainland Greece and Turkey, Cypriot cooking in the north and south remains extremely similar, and the vast majority of recipes are shared amongst all Cypriot people. The reason we have separated our recipe pages into these two sections is just to make it easier for you, our readers, to search for specific recipes. Dishes in North Cyprus which have come from mainland Turkey often evolve into a new style of the dish, and on the following pages we will give you family versions of the recipes and our twists on them, as well as more traditional versions. We hope you have fun making these Turkish recipes, and as with all Cypriot cooking never be afraid to experiment a bit with your own touches!
