Karpaz Beaches

Karpaz beaches are the best beaches in North Cyprus and are an absolute must see! The Karpaz Peninsula is one of the most unspoilt areas of Cyprus, the beaches are stunning and romantic and there is often a good chance that you will have a whole big beach to yourself for the day! This is because of the areas distance to the tourist hotspots and bigger towns.

You will need a car for travelling in the Karpaz, and their signposts to tell you to turn for the beaches. One of the first beaches you will come across is Kaplica beach, a sandy beach which is not very well known even to a lot of Cypriots. You can recognise this beach as you can see part of an old hotel which is no longer in use.

Turtle Beach (aka Golden Sands):

Picture endless untouched white sand, shallow clear water and you have the breathtaking Turtle Beach! This beach really has to be seen, as words and pictures can’t do it justice! There are a few sunbeds and lounges which are free to use and some other limited facilities, such as small toilets and changing rooms. Most of the times that we have visited this beach we have enjoyed miles and miles of sand all to ourselves.

Turtles come to this beach to lay their eggs and if you are lucky enough to see them, please remember to keep a distance and not disturb them. They are an endangered species and if they are scared away, they may not have anywhere to breed and lay their eggs.

There is a small café at the entrance with serves amazing fresh calamari if it has been caught that day and in late afternoon you can see wild donkeys, goats and sheep wandering through the surrounding mountains! This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day with a loved one!

Malibu Beach:

This is another stunning beach which has beautiful surrounding scenery. The water is very clear and safe for swimming. There a few facilities including a snack bar, and again it is empty most of the time.
