Accessing your money from the Bank of Cyprus

Founded in 1899, the Bank of Cyprus is the oldest and leading financial services organisation on the island today. Out of 569 branches worldwide, 143 are in Cyprus so you should have no problem finding them and accessing your Cyprus money during your stay! It is also one of the best places to exchange money.

You can also find branches in countries including Greece, the UK, Russia, Romania, Ukraine and Australia. The bank employs over 12,000 worldwide.

Bank-of-Cyprus

You can easily recognise the bank from the outside due its emblem; KOINON KYPION which means common to all Cypriots. The bank also has ATMs all over the island. Shares in the bank are available on both the Cyprus and Athens stock exchanges.

If you looking for jobs in Cyprus, you find there are often opportunities available within the bank despite the economic recession. These are available both in Cyprus and across Europe.

Non-Cypriots can finance property in Cyprus through either a UK or Cypriot bank. Pensions, salaries and income investments can also be transferred. It is worth noting that transferring money from your normal bank to any of the big Cyprus banks, can take up to and over a week, so plan in advance when sorting out your Cyprus money. You can also use internet or telephone banking to access your Cyprus bank accounts.

In 1984, the bank set up a Cultural Foundation was established to preserve the Hellenic heritage in the South of the island. The foundation holds collections of ancient Greek Cypriot coins, as well as Ancient Greek art, ancient Greek maps and ancient Greek literature which have been found in Cyprus.
