Apoel finish top of their Champions League group

As promised we will be keeping you up to date on Apoel's progress in the UEFA Champions League...

Despite losing 2-0 to Shakhtar Donetsk last night (6th Dec 2011) Apoel have finished top of Group G with 9 points. They are the only Cypriot side to have ever progressed past the group stages and finishing top of the group ensures they will avoid the top teams in the first round of the knockout stages.

They avoid playing Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona and depending on scores tonight could avoid several other big names.

However, possible opponents in the next round include AC Milan and Marseille, and depending on tonight's results could also include Manchester United. Follow this blog for the latest news on their progress!
